Pretty Pink Stuff

I think pink may be my favorite color. Before my daughter was born though, I couldn't get away with much pink stuff... It doesn't look really good ON me, and my husband wouldn't appreciate a fluffy pink pillow on his bed. But now that the princess has arrived, I can have a hay day!
This post started with the innocent intention of showing a box I painted for her room, but then I took another picture - and then another...

A cute way to display pictures. This was a fun project.

"Always kiss me Goodnight" ...not that I would ever forget! This is a strip of wood handpainted with two vintage hooks attached to either side.

The birth announcement My mom and I made for my daughter. Hours upon hours of detail work... thank you mom!

AMAZING GRACE

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. Amen to that :) This commission was done using black, brown and iridescent green ink. The flourishes were painted with watercolors. The paper I used was a fairly inexpensive sheet by Strathmore in Decorative-Marble Tan. The painted surface was 16x20, although the sheets come in 19x25.
The title was written with decorative Versal lettering. The body of the text was gothic/copperplate varying scripts. The finishing touch was the "antiquing" ink applied around the edges. This is my most recent project and I had fun with it :)

Ice Cream Shop Logo - YUMMY :)

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! ( At least, that is what the owners of this delicious little shop in Three lakes, WI hoped.) This fun Logo design project was designed using hand lettering for the text and ink/watercolors for the curtains. The polka dots and border were done digitally. I created several variations for the logo. The above was painted onto a large window (With the curtains - tell me that isn't too cute!) This one was done especially for the embroidery on the uniform:
And this one was the main "wooden sign" logo:

Another great idea that the shop owners used was to inlay this logo onto the entry way tile. Something like mosaic, but not as "homemade" looking. Really sharp. If you are ever in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin, go have some Ice Cream and say "hi" from Danae.

Invitation Set: Hawaii Wedding

First I will give credit where credit is due and say that the bride I designed this for was one of the sweetest people I've ever worked with. This is a full invitation set I designed for a destination wedding in Hawaii. The base card used was a 5x7 handmade paper from twinrocker. ( Amazing paper!) First layer is a hand -torn mulberry sheet. Then each invitation had its own handpainted illustration in watercolor & gouche. The inside text was written in pointed pen using a style I designed -ASIA. The ink was a deep, glossy brown contrasting nicely with the opaque finish of the other elements. Full invitation set included hand addressed envelopes, RSVP cards and envelopes.
